On 15 September 2012, I joined my fellow colleagues for a 5 days 4 nights department trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It was THE trip I deem the most exciting in my 25 years life. Of course, we flew AirAsia.
As a local who was born and bred in a food heaven, I could affirm that Kota Kinabalu is yet another food heaven – particularly seafood. BBQ tiger prawns, butter lobster, Restoran Maimunah Curry House’s roti canai, Kundasang’s chicken wing and raw meat noodles, to name a few.

All work and no play makes Jane/Jack a dull girl/boy. We are certainly neither Jane nor Jack. Our exploration took place from Tanjung Aru, Tamparuli Bridge, Kundasang and Kinabalu Park to Poring Hot Spring, Suria Sabah Shopping Mall and Mari-Mari Cultural Village. The fun we had and the friendships we have fostered are nonetheless unforgettable.

My colleagues and I snorkeled for the very first time in the green sea surrounding Manukan Island. We were definitely intoxicated by the gentle wave and fish swimming beneath us.
For this, I extended my stay in Kota Kinabalu and went for a snorkeling tour in the scenic Mantanani Island. The 45-minutes boat ride from Kota Belud jetty proved to be worthwhile when I witnessed schools of fish swimming around many colorful coral reefs. The crystal clean sea water never failed to enhance the charm of the island.
Neither Sabah is not a small state nor I have fully discovered the Land Below the Wind, I could proudly announce to the world at large that I am now planning for another trip to Sabah in the nearest future.
