There's a local myth about the whole area, according to our driver.

We actually rented a Toyota Innova (it's real comfort - you will need it), driver included.

Anyway, according to Pak Suria, the driver, 800 years ago, there was a beautiful princess who gave birth to a son. And when the son was about 3 years old .... (I am not sure whether I heard this right, I was behind the driver), the princess instructed her son for a deer's heart.

The son, apparently fail to hunt for a deer, and in a bid to satisfy his beloved mother, he shot down their pet dog and gave the heart to the princess. Maybe the princess has eaten deer heart for many many times that she soon found out the truth and banished the child from the palace.

Several years passed, the son, Sangkuriang (by the way, there is a restaurant by his name in Bandung Town), grew up to be a handsome warrior. And by fate, he met again with his mother. Now, the legend says that the mother, the princess was gifted with eternal youth and beauty.
Not recognizing each other, they fell in love.

One day, Sangkuriang set off for hunting and at that point , the princess noticed a birthmark which she quickly recognized as her banished son's.
Upon returning from the hunting trip, the princess not wanting him to be her lover anymore,instructed Sangkuriang to build a ship by sunrise.
If he fails, so does their relationship.

Sangkuriang with the help of some ogres spent the night on the quest for his love.
The princess fearing that her son might succeed, set up to trick Sangkuriang that daylight has arrived. Sangkuring upon knowing that he was tricked, smashed and upturned the ship.

Hence the structure of the upturned ship can be seen till today - the volcano , shaped like an upturned boat, and when you reach the top of the mountain, you will see "flooding of the ship's hull".

All right, back to our journey up the volcano.
We stopped by for lunch at a fantastic resort call Kampung Daun.

Bandung is blessed with abundance of strawberries, avocados, rock melons, pink guava.
Fruit punches and cocktails and smoothies, yogurts and ice cream with lots of fruit toppings is everywhere.

Famous dish in Bandung is the Fried Gurame Fish, serve with hot black chili sauce and we had it with hot white rice.....hmmmmmhh.....

Off we went then after filling up our stomach.
Off we went to Tangkuban Perahu mountain.

We saw huge mansions, flower nurseries, strawberry farm, hot springs along the way up.

Finally we arrived at the very top of the mountain.
It was terribly cold and foggy and it started to rain heavily.
We had to put on our pullovers as it was shivering cold.

Next to the shelter, down the slope, are rows and rows of stalls stack closely to each other.

Colourful mufflers, rabbit skin hats,
STRAWBERRIES, rasberries,
Colourful crystal keychains,
Souvenier pens, pullovers and sweaters.

Must always remember to bring small change as the price is very very cheap.

Being girls of cause this stall became the main attraction to us.
Crystal necklace of many design and colours and very cheap.
The crystals are all carved from the mountain itself.

I would say, this is a really nice and relaxing place to visit and we do plan to go again.
