Dear all our Indian AirAsians and friends who are celebrating Thaipusam,
The blog team would like to take this opportunity to wish all a Happy Thaipusam.
To our readers who are unaware what Thaipusam is, Wikipedia defines Thaipusam as a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb). Pusam refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan (also known as Subramaniam), the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the also to commemorate the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.
Our wishes go out to those celebrating at home and those who are following the procession from Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Sri Subramaniar Temple, Nattukottai Chettiar Temple and all holy temples around the globe.
Let us all join in and share the joy with our Indian friends all around. Have a great day of celebration.
