Hot Hot HOT!
Those were the conditions that accompanied the drivers for the final round of the Yamaha SL Cup Karting series where track temperatures were above 40 degrees centigrade.
The races were held on the 959m long go-kart circuit at the Speedway Plus Circuit in USJ-Selangor, Malaysia.
Our driver Daim Hishammudin won the cadet class section of the race which involves drivers aged between 8 to 12.
Daim who hails from Singapore is under the the AirAsia ASEAN Driver Development Program.
We at AirAsia are very proud to support Daim in his karting career. Even at such a young age, he has the positive attitude, competitive drive, and personality that make us proud sponsors.
He won both races with pole position and fastest lap. In an interview he said “It was a hard fight this year and to now take my third championship in three years is a direct result of the support I have from my family and sponsors like CIMB, AirAsia and of course BHPetrol.
On another note, Nabil Jeffri, one of the pioneers of the AirAsia ASEAN Driver Development (AADD) Program launched earlier this year was recently given the honour to test drive a Lotus Racing T127 car in the UK and created history by being the youngest ever test driver in F1TM.
Perhaps young Daim will become the next Nabil?? Hmmm…. Food for thought
Daim and two other drivers will be turning their attention and training to yet another Asian Karting Open Championship (AKOC) round in Thailand from the 13th to the 14th November 2010.
